It is not all about nutritions – Tom and Pontus on diet & lifestyle

Tom Lindström introduces the workshop by declaring

The most basic issue is being kind to yourself. This workshop has to do with a little bit of backup – it is not all about nutritions.

First of all you have to learn relaxation. Tom tells us that he has done it “all” on the spiritual path, but finally it all merges into to being able to relax. And it has to do with allowing what is, to let things be just the way they are. Distractions comes from outside and when you unwind, there is only one way to connect – to your own inner being. In the same way we should listen to ourselves when it comes to food – to our soul, not our brain. When we get a taste of ourselves relaxation is allowed to enter. The most efficient way is to be aware of, and follow, your own breath. Reconnecting to yourself has to do with mindfulness – and you can do it anywhere, you don´t have to go to Tibet!

We need to be grounded as well. Our body has an electrical charge as well as the earth. When we walk, or run, barefoot it becomes recharged.

When I put my feet on the ground I instantly go into deep breathing, says Tom.

It is also important to move our body daily. Moving the body has a stronger impact of detoxification to our bodies than the “right” food, Pontus says. Here, longer term movement, to doing it regularly is the key point. Any natural movement, is perfect – like walking, swimming, bicycling, climbing, dancing, making love…These are basic movement for the human body – all contributing to our grounding and detoxification. The movement arts, like yoga, Thai chi, chi gong, and so on, are also perfect. Gym cards does not have any real place here, but if you are fond of going there, you should do it, of course! The moving exercise should all be about enjoyment. Deep breathing is also a good for cleansing the body from toxins – it makes your lymphatic system work better.

Actually the skin is the most detoxification organ in the human body. And what we put on our skin goes in to our blood stream. Take all your conventional skin products out of your home, says Pontus. They are made of the residues from gasoline production. You can use coca nut oil, that is good for your skin. When you have a sun tan it takes 12-24 hours for your body to absorb the vitamin D. If you take a shower just afterwords, you wash the vitamin injection away.

The beauty of nature is another important source to gain health. It has a profound impact on our well being. When we sit in peace by a lake, just being satisfied and enjoyed in the moment, the parasympathetic system slows down. We are grounded and release stress out of our system. When it comes to our skin, we must also remember to brush it every day, boosting the blood circulation and supporting the detoxification.

Then about water: It is the most important nutrient of all. Upgrading your intake has more effect than a healthy diet. But it has to be pure spring water, not the bottled one. Dehydration might cause hunger, tiredness, headaches and other body pains. We are told to look at a YouTube video called Water – The Great Mystery.

I believe that upgrading your water intake also has more impact on your health than changing your diet, says Tom.

Introduce Raw food your own way, and to the extent that feels right for you. Having organic food is what matters the most. If you eat fish and meat it is even more important how it is produced. You do not have to do Raw Food all the time, maybe fasting once a week can have the same effect on your health. It is what you can absorb from your food that matters, not what you eat. Maybe the overweight ones just eat to much “empty” food, lacking essential nutritions.

When you eat a lot of Raw Food you can do with less calories, because your body´s needs are fulfilled. You do not feel hungry, between meals, when you are used to the diet. Reduced calorie intake has proven to prolong life span and shows medical signs of a healthy life style. We all have different metabolism, someone might for example need more fat than others. Always listen to your own body, and HAVE FUN!
