Intimacy of the Heart

Thanks to all who participated in Sexsibility 2016. Please help us to develop the festival by filling in the evaluation. Click HERE!

We all have the capacity to experience love, trust, inner peace, presence and ecstasy. We just need to practice and sometimes get some support and inspiration.

We believe that our world would be a better place if more people would have beautiful experiences together. Sex, intimacy, laughter, playfulness and pleasure is not only wonderful in itself but also provides us with a deeper experience of life, offers healing to emotional wounds and motivates us to change.

We want to create a better existence together and have fun and enjoy while we do it. We believe that to be the best foundation for sustainable development and a more beautiful and harmonious world.

This is why we are happy to invite You to the Sexsibility Festival!

An intimate festival

For the eighth consecutive year, we invite you to an intimate festival where intimacy, sexuality, body and soul are the focus. It is offered in workshops through Sexsibility, Tantra, Taoism, Shamanism, playfulness, spiritual healing, among many other things. Workshops are held by esteemed teachers who have been with us in the past, new international teachers and Sexsibility coaches.

Besides the possibility to take part in inspiring workshops you will find opportunities to explore various sexual expressions, dancing, singing, meeting with new friends and being part of a sharing group. Go for a date in the café or playroom, make out, eat yummy and healthy food, enjoy summer, life and each other.

Every Sexsibility Festival offers a unique experience – and yet there is a special atmosphere that characterizes a Sexsibility Festival. We would describe it as a lovely mix of curiosity, openness, grounding, togetherness and joy.

Love one another as we are

The theme of the festival in 2016 is intimacy of the heart and we want to invite you to explore contact, honesty and vulnerability as the base on which to meet another human being. For us, the greatest love is to be able to be ourselves and love another human being just as she / he is. Our intention is to create a festival with much safety and community. We are convinced that it is necessary for you to dare to explore this topic for real. There is also the opportunity to become aware of, embrace and transform what prevents you from really being with another human.

Gender balance

At the festival last summer we had major imbalance between the number of men (mostly) and women. There were many who wished that we would do something about it at the next festival. We have listened and will ensure that there will be an even balance at the festival this summer.

Not “just sex”

Although sexuality is a natural and essential part of the festival, the focus is to meet in the heart. This commonly happens during sexual encounters at the festival, but it usually occurs after an emotional meeting that took place during a workshop, for example.

If you come to the festival in order to have “just sex” and are not so interested in change or deeper intimate meetings, it is very likely that you will be disappointed and frustrated.

There are other and better forums for this longing. But those seeking to get in touch with their emotions, become more present and experience a deeper encounter with themselves and others – with the help of sexuality – usually have a fantastic festival.

Safety and borders

It is important that you can feel safe at the festival. In addition to having competent workshop leaders, there are daily sharing groups and an emotional support team. All participants will also approve the agreements not to use alcohol or other drugs. All that happens during the festival, including who participates, is confidential. The atmosphere between the participants tends to be very supportive, friendly, respectful and inclusive.

A smaller step

For those of you who feel that the festival seems a bit too challenging, the course “Tantra – Pleasure and healing” is another possible first step. The course does not contain the same large variety of exercises and has much fewer participants, but creates a safer and more cohesive space that can be better as a starter. Welcome to learn more here.

Cozy café, playroom and silent meditation

In the middle of the festival site, at the festival’s heart, there is a café with delicious sweets, raw food pastries and cozy sofas for you to sit and enjoy a cup of tea or discuss the latest workshop with a newfound friend. Centrally located is a decorated playroom with mattresses on the floor for play, massage and intimate encounters.

In a more isolated part of the festival area there will be a quiet room for silence and meditation. These rooms are open both during and between workshops, to give you more opportunity to do what you want to do. At the festival there are also opportunities for recreation and relaxation in the nearby forests and in Ängsbacka’s beautiful garden with big lawns and a large sauna.

We would also like to add that Ängsbacka has adapted its ethical guidelines for nudity, sexuality and separation of gender to better match a Sexsibility festival. Learn more about this on the practical information page.

A festival for you who…

This is a festival for you who wish to find more pleasure in your body, with your partner, in sex and in life in general. To the Sexsibility festival comes both people who have been to several festivals and workshops and also many people who have never done anything like this before.

We welcome you regardless of sexual orientation, preference or experience, whether you are single or have one or more partners. That is, whether you see yourself as gay, hetero, bi, queer, girl, man, lady, transsexual, virgin, swinger, single, poly, prude, nudist, fetishist, tantrika, vanilla or other.

All over 18 years are welcome. It usually is a lovely mixed group of open-minded people, of different ages and backgrounds who together create an amazing festival experience.

Exploration, challenges & integration

There will be workshops to explore intimacy through compassionate touch, breathing exercises, healing, conversation, sexual ceremonies and tantric partner exercises. You will get the opportunity to practice communicating, follow your impulses, dare to take the initiative, set boundaries, find your power, be held by another and let go.

For those who wish, there is also the opportunity to explore close encounters through all the senses, spanking, ropes and intense sensations. There will also be dance, yoga, music and meditations on the program as a way to turn inward and be able to integrate your experiences, especially in the mornings and evenings.

Workshops and workshop leaders

At the festival there will be a smorgasbord of about 50 different workshops; everything from softer workshops for you who want to explore your sexuality and who want to proceed more carefully, to workshops that are more challenging, outgoing and interactive.

International Course & Festival Center

Ängsbacka is an international course and festival center with participants, workshop leaders and volunteers from all over the world. Therefore please note that the main language during the festivals often is English but some of the workshops can be in a different language, for instance Swedish or Norwegian.

  • The festival ticket includes camping at Ängsbacka’s beautiful green camping field, which is located in direct connection to the festival area. Bring your own tent and don´t forget to bring equipment suitable for the warm as well as the cold and for a rainy summer day.
  • At an additional fee there are sometimes beds to rent indoors at the festival area; in double room, 4-6 bed room and dormitory. For availability see the tab “Price and booking”.
  • We place men and women separately unless you have booked a whole room. Please bring earplugs if you are sound sensitive – the sound can sometimes be quite loud in the festival area. All our accommodations are hostel standard with shared shower and toilet.
  • Please bring your own sheets and towels. You might want to bring an extra towel for the sauna or swimming.
  • You can rent a space for your camper or caravan during the festival, without electricity. Book well in advance!
  • It is also possible to rent private accommodation in the nearby village of Molkom. Most accommodations are located at walking distance (1-1,5 km) to Ängsbacka. Please contact us if you are interested and we’ll send you a list with contact-information of the people who let out rooms, apartments, houses and campers/caravans.

The festival ticket includes breakfast, lunch and dinner. At Ängsbacka we offer a vegetarian diet prepared with love. We use locally produced and organic products to a large extent. If you let us know in connection with your reservation, we will arrange vegan diet (same if lactose intolerant) or gluten and nut-free food for you. For practical reasons we can´t meet needs from other allergies or diets during festivals.

The Cafe & The Shop

  • The Cafe is a cozy and comfortable meeting place for new friendships and deep conversation over a latte or a mild herbal tea. You can also buy organic bakery, delicious sandwiches and healthy drinks. The atmosphere often get lively during Open Stage where you can take the opportunity to share a song, poem or just improvise.
  • In the Ängsbacka Shop you will find health products and organic body care, relaxing music, books, different clothes, organic incense, unique jewelry, yoga mats and more.

Other information

  • Money. For cash withdrawals, there is a vending machine (ATM) at the grocery store in Molkom community, about 1.5 miles from Ängsbacka.
  • Walking. A good idea is to bring coarser walking shoes for trails around Ängsbacka. Comfortable indoor shoes/slippers is also good to have.
  • Bottle/cup. Don´t forget a water bottle and maybe a take away mug for coffee and tea.
  • Sauna. We have a large sauna where you have the possibility to relax in the company of new and old friends – an extra towel is a good idea to bring for that.
