~ Heart of Presence ~
with Paul Hurcomb
Paul Hurcomb is a warm satsang teacher from England, with a deep and direct clarity. In a personal way he gives guidance in finding our true nature of underlying peace, joy and silence beyond the conditioned mind and personality.
Start 2017 in ease and relaxation
Come and start the new year exploring our natural state of Being, a place of ease, relaxation and flow. The retreat is an opportunity to stop, be still and look inwards. To take a pause from the busyness of everyday life and inquire who we really are. It is an invitation to rest in the ‘Heart of Presence’ and discover it as our own true self.
What happens during the retreat?
The core of the retreat is the satsang meetings and the silent meditations. The program also includes guided meditations and inquiries, yoga, dance, contemplative singing and silent walks.
In between the program there will be time to rest together, to enjoy nature, to use the sauna and to simply rest – all in silence.
Satsang – Meetings in Stillness
Satsang means to meet together in Truth and to inquire into our essential nature. Often they start with a short talk followed by a meditative inquiry into your true nature. There is time and space to ask any questions that you may have, to share your experience, or to simply just be.
The satsang meetings are always spontaneous with the main focus placed on authentic self inquiry and genuine inner exploration of who and what we are beyond our conditioned identity. Basically a satsang offers a guided space for presence, stillness, inquiry and truth.
Other than the formal sessions the retreat is held in Silence. It is not a social event, but an opportunity for you to be still within your Self, to inquire into your inmost nature, to find out who we are beyond the mind made personality. The silence helps you to stop the attention going to outward activity such as speaking, socialising, having physical and eye contact, using phones or internet, and gives you the opportunity to look inwards.
Just leave everything aside, just for this while, and let your attention rest in your own Silence. Paul will officially start, and end the silence of this retreat by ringing a bell. Still, we wish to ask you, to try to honor the silence within you as much as you can on location also before and after the retreat, and keep the communication to a minimum of what’s needed. You will have the time you need upon arrival, to sort out your practicalities and ask questions you might have.
Deepening from the New Year Festival
The retreat is both a separate event and a deepening of the New Years Festival where Paul will be part of the program giving satsang. The New Year Festival is 4-day gathering combining workshops, celebration, ceremony, meditation/yoga and sharing. The festival ends at mid day Jan 2, and the retreat starts late afternoon Jan 3, so there is time to digest the festival before going into the silent retreat. If you join both the festival and the retreat there is a combo offer where food and lodging in between in for free. Read more about the New Year Festival here.
- The retreat will be in English.

Warmly welcome to the Satsang Retreat with Paul Hurcomb at Ängsbacka!
Paul spent 15 years as a practicing Buddhist until 2003 when he had a profound shift in consciousness from mind identity to presence. This led him to India where he discovered the self inquiry advaita teachings popularised by the great sage Sri Ramana Maharshi, it was here he also met his own teacher Sri Mooji.
Over the past 5 years Paul has been holding regular retreats and open meetings throughout Europe. He conveys the timeless self inquiry teachings in a simple, direct and clear way. Other teachers that have greatly influenced him are Nisargadatta Maharaj and Eckhart Tolle.
Paul Hurcomb’s homepage – Meetings in Stillness
”Satsang is not here to fix the person but to replace the person with pure Presence. The exchange from person to Presence takes place in front of that which can never ever change: the formless, ever-present witnessing consciousness.”
