Jonathan Weber takes us through the seven chakras and explains their different functions in our body. They appear along the spine from the root Chakra uptil the Crown chakra at the top of our head. And each of them has its own colour, corresponding to the colours of the rainbow. Many of us are familiar with the basics of the chakra system, but anyhow it is interesting to listen to Jonathan.
The chakra system is as a coherent system for the body energy, known long back in the eastern part of the world. Yogis have felt, got to know and understand them way back in time. I was brought into the western world by the Theosophical Society (formed in 1875) where is has gained a more popular appeal. The Chinese Tao, or Dao, as well as the acupuncture system, deal with the same concept of energy body .
We all experience it in ourselves by moving in different modes, like lethargy, excitement or aliveness. Jonathan gives us en example, by how we react to an enlightening thunderstorm. We feel refreshed by the ionization in the air. The realm of prana is experienced in the body and effects or body and our thinking. The energy system connects the mind with the body. We all have an energy field around us that – a personal zone. You can, for example, feel others being open or shielded.
We are asked to hold our hands opposed to each other, with some space in between, and then also hold them, like we are holding a hot ball, in order to feel the warmth and the energy between them. It takes some time to get used to feel this, because it appears on a refine level, says Jonathan.
Then we go into the conceptual level of the chakras to learn what they represent and how we can learn to balance them, if they, for some reason, are blocked . We do a meditation to connect to each of them and visualise them in colours from the base of our spine up to the top of our head – from read to purple, like the rainbow. They meet in our heart chakra which refers to the colour green. This is the where the dense energy of the earth meets the light solar influence. In the hearth chakra they together form a hexagram, a triangle and another triangle upside down. This is the ancient symbol of the cross, the male and female energy, heaven and earth merge.
Jonathan guides us through the chakras and we learn what is needed to make the energy flow freely through them. But also in what ways they can be blocked and what kind of “symptoms” we can experience, according to which chakra is involved. For everybody who likes to know more about chakras, their different rolls in the energy system and who to manage unbalances, there is a lot to find on the Internet.
Jonathan Weber comes from Oregeon, but now lives in Oslo. At age 13, Jonathan experienced a profound awakening, and devoted his life towards self-realization. He is a teacher of Yoga philosophy and Meditation. He is also a visionary fine artist, illustrator and gardener.
